Since 2001, the City of Saratoga Springs has been receiving funds from the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act Continuum of Care Grant, under the authority of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Funded in 2008:

  • City of Saratoga Springs: Shelter Plus Care Renewal for 26 beds for Homeless and Chronically Homeless Persons
  • Domestic Violence: A new grant for 5 beds for Permanent Supportive Housing Program and 18 beds for a Transitional Housing Program
  • Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company
  • Transitional Services Association, Inc.
  • Domestic Violence Rape Crisis
  • HMIS

To date total funds this program has brought into Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County are $3.7million.


During 2010-2011 Alliance Members provided more than: 10,000 bed nights of emergency shelter 30,000 bed nights of supportive transitional housing 80,000 meals for formerly homeless persons. Emergency financial assistance prevented 150 households from eviction and provided 193 persons with disabilities with permanent, independent housing units.
The position of Coordinator was funded through the community investment program of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region.
